Somatic & nervous system awareness

Somatic and nervous system awareness focuses on the connection between the mind and body.

Our bodies often hold stress, tension, emotions, and protective responses long after difficult experiences have passed. Sometimes this can show up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, difficulty relaxing, feeling constantly “on,” emotional shutdown, or feeling disconnected from yourself without fully understanding why.

These responses are not weaknesses. They are ways the nervous system adapts in an effort to protect us and help us get through overwhelming experiences.

My approach is rooted in mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and creating a space where clients can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and build greater awareness of how emotions and stress may be showing up physically, emotionally, and relationally.

Therapy may involve exploring:

  • anxiety and nervous system stress

  • emotional overwhelm and burnout

  • grounding and body awareness

  • chronic tension and difficulty slowing down

  • hypervigilance and emotional exhaustion

  • emotional shutdown or numbness

  • reconnecting with safety, rest, and self-trust

  • mindfulness and emotional regulation

The body says what words cannot.
