You’ve learned how to handle a lot on your own.

Maybe you’re the person your family relies on.

You may have grown up translating, helping your parents navigate things, taking on responsibility early, or learning to be independent before you were ready.

You’ve learned how to keep going, even when you’re overwhelmed.

You might be doing well on the outside while privately struggling with anxiety, overthinking, guilt, relationship stress, or feeling disconnected from what you actually want.

You may find yourself asking:

Why is it so hard for me to say no?

Why do I feel guilty when I prioritize myself?

Why do I understand everyone else’s feelings but struggle to understand my own?

Why do I feel like I’m never doing enough?

Therapy can be a place to slow down and understand what is happening underneath all of it.

Therapy for the things you may have learned to live with

Anxiety & Overthinking
You constantly replay conversations, anticipate problems, second-guess yourself, or struggle to quiet your mind.

People-Pleasing & Guilt
You have difficulty saying no, worry about disappointing people, or feel responsible for other people’s emotions.

Family & Cultural Expectations
You’re navigating expectations around family, success, responsibility, independence, relationships, or what it means to be a “good” son or daughter.

Relationships & Attachment
You may struggle with fear of rejection, abandonment, conflict, emotional dependence, communication, or knowing what you actually need from a relationship.

Burnout & Emotional Exhaustion
You’ve spent so much time functioning and taking care of things that you feel mentally and emotionally depleted.

Identity & Feeling Lost
You’re trying to figure out who you are beyond what your family, culture, career, relationships, or other people expect from you.

Your family and culture are part of your story.

Maybe you grew up between different expectations at home, school, work, or in relationships.

Maybe your family sacrificed a lot, and you feel pressure to make those sacrifices “worth it.”

Maybe you were taught to respect your elders, prioritize family, work hard, stay strong, or avoid talking about certain things.

Maybe you deeply value those parts of your upbringing while also realizing that some of them have become difficult to carry as an adult.

You can be grateful for your family and still have complicated feelings.

You can love your culture and still question some of what you were taught.

You can want to support your family and still want a life that feels like your own.

Therapy can give you space to explore those experiences without reducing them to “good” or “bad.”

You already know what you’re “supposed” to do.

  1. You may already know that you need boundaries.

  2. You may already know that you should stop overthinking.

  3. You may already know that you need to prioritize yourself.

  4. Knowing what to do and actually being able to do it are two different things.

Our work can focus on understanding the patterns underneath your reactions: your family dynamics, relationships, past experiences, attachment patterns, cultural expectations, and the ways you learned to take care of yourself and others.

Therapy with me is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, depth-oriented, mindfulness-based, and collaborative.

Rather than only focusing on how to manage a symptom, we can explore why the pattern exists, what purpose it has served, and what you want to change.

Hi, I’m Heidy.

I’m a bilingual Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles who works with adults navigating anxiety, overthinking, relationships, people-pleasing, burnout, identity, and family and cultural expectations.

My work is especially informed by working with Latino clients, children of immigrants, first-generation adults, and people navigating the complexities of growing up between cultures.

My approach is warm, curious, and depth-oriented. I want to understand not only what you’re struggling with now, but also the experiences and patterns that may be shaping how you relate to yourself and others.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy.

What we’ll work on together.

Understanding your patterns
We’ll explore what keeps your anxiety, people-pleasing, relationship patterns, or other concerns going.

Exploring your relationships
We can look at how you communicate, connect, set boundaries, handle conflict, and respond to rejection or closeness.

Making space for your own needs
You may be used to focusing on everyone else. Therapy can help you become more aware of what you actually need and want.

Understanding your past
Your current reactions often make more sense when we understand where they came from.

Building a life that feels like yours
We can work toward making choices based on your values and desires rather than only on expectations you've carried from others.
